Socialists
Basic principles: graduality and radicalism. Changes should occur smoothly, but they should be revolutionary. All problems that USA and all world face, are because of that as a priority the profit acts, not person.
The party has been created in 1898 by members of the trade-union organisations known at that time organizers of mass strikes. It is considered, that the ideological platform of Party of Socialists was under strong influence of ideas of the First International, created by Charles Marx. However the Socialist party structure included not only marxists, but also Christian socialists, Zionists, the Antizionist Jewish organisations and the left radicals. The party always opposed violent forms of class struggle and adhered to pacifistic views. Socialists have denied idea of proletarian revolution, having put forward the theory of "revolutions in education for creation of a new society".
The peak of influence of Socialist party has come to the beginning of 20 century when it had several representatives in the Congress of the USA, and its supporters won elections of mayors of large cities. In 1919 the party has lost a considerable part of influence because under the influence of October revolution numerous marxists have gone out of it , adhering to bolshevist views. As a result, there were formed two communist parties at once : Communist party which was created by recent emigrants, and the Communist party of Work created by Americans which the known journalist and writer John Read has headed, the author of the book about October revolution "Ten days which have shaken the world".
During an epoch of "Great Depression" socialists have a little hardened the political influence but after position in economy of the USA has improved, socialists have lost again mass support in a society. To the middle of 1970th years socialists did not participate in national elections. Struggle attempts for places in the Senate and the Congress of the USA, and also for the White House, undertaken in 1980-1990th years, had not resulted in any success.
Socialists support toughening of rules of business dealing for large corporations, for greater influence of trade unions and public organisations, oppose wars and militarism. The party declares, that it equally opposes fascism and communism. The socialist party totals some tens thousand supporters.
